Farming

Short, desirable names cost ANS — sometimes hundreds of it. Rather than minting hundreds of long names just to accumulate ANS, you can farm it by locking ALPH.

How farming works

Locking ALPH in a farm works exactly like locking the 0.2 ALPH deposit in a name NFT — except you can lock as much ALPH as you like in a single farm.

For example, suppose you want 100 ANS to rent a name for a year:

1. Lock 20 ALPH in a farm for 11 months.
2. Receive 100 ANS instantly.
3. After the 11 months, reclaim your ALPH — at which point you might lock it away again to renew your name.

Crops are NFTs

Farm crops are themselves NFTs, so they can be traded like any other Alephium NFT.
